To say this ghoul has been deeply inspired by the Svengoolieverse would be quite the understatement. Not only did I finish my split face portrait, “You’re All Grown Up Now” as a tribute to Jerry G. Bishop and Rich Koz, but I also conjured up a one-of-a-kind campy but spooky fun frame for it! While working on the frame it hit me that I wasn’t quite done being inspired by these local legends just yet!

I got to thinking about how its been a little while since I have been commissioned to make one of my Dead Girl Decay barrettes. At times I miss making them for my art collectors and even more so when they give me a theme to go off of. Then it hit me.. I must make one for Gwengoolie!

I just adore Sarah “Pin-Up Palmer” and her transformation into the undead glamour ghoul on House of Svengoolie. She’s GOREgeous, sassy and her psychobilly vibes are such a fun edition to the Sven Squad. She often adds floral hair pieces to her look both on and off screen and it got me thinking of how killer it would be for her to have one of my Dead Girl Decay barrettes in her collection. So I started researching and digging into my crypt of supplies and once I conjured up everything I needed it all came together spooktacularly!

Elsa helped me by doing a little photo shoot today so I could take some pictures showing how it looks in her hair. She sits next to me in my Morticia Addams wicker chair in the corner of my home art studio, so she also got to watch the entire creative process. I think she was bit bummed when she realized she doesn’t get to keep it. Can’t say that I blame her. It looks so ghoul on her!

Now my goal is to get this special handmade hair piece to Sarah before Elsa tries to claim it for herself. And maybe, just maybe one day we may see Gwengoolie rocking it on tv. Am I nightmaring again? Of corpse! But I like to keep the mindset of “never say never” because over the years my art has opened up doors and been featured in ways I never thought imaginable and all because I enjoy using my talents to gift back to those who spark my creativity. ⚡️🖤✨

Living Dead Girl Nicole Massacres Fleshy Frame for New Art Collector 🪚🖼

Most of my art collectors commission me to create my horror decor frames in my decayed corpse blue-grey style, so I was really hyped that after I finished my recent commission to make one in toxic wasteland green, another custom order came through requesting that I make one in my necromancer massacre flesh style.

This particular order was for an 8″x10″ frame with brown eyes and I am really excited to be able to share how it came out…

Svengoolie Portrait Gets Resurrected Art Frame by Living Dead Girl Nicole 💀🖼🐔

A couple of weeks ago I shared my latest split face portrait “You’re All Grown Up Now”, a tribute to Jerry G. Bishop and Rich Koz and the history of our Chicagoland local legend Svengoolie. Well with Flashback Weekend on the horizon and me anticipating gifting the piece to Sven, I needed to get a frame for it. However, I knew not any frame would do for the essence of Svengoolie. It needed to have a bit of unique, campy yet spooky razzle dazzle.

So I found a frame to resurrect and went to work. I chose this specific frame for a few reasons. For one, the beaded look reminded me of Svengoolie’s red beaded rubber chicken necklace. I also liked how there were layers to the frame and immediately envisioned various ways I could incorporate the colors of the show’s set. I also loved that it was made from natural wood which would give me a nice base.

This was the end result after I conjured my creative magic…

I purchased the little rubber chickens and hand sculpted larger “beads” to attach them to the frame securely. I wanted them to dangle because if you give them a squeeze they actually make a fun little squeaky sound!

I wanted there to be a center piece to the frame between Bishop and Koz, so I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to pay homage to Zallman T. Tombstone. So I hand sculpted a little skull and used some wig hair to make him his iconic mustache. Not getting the hair in the clay while it was drying was “fun times” but I succeeded.

I then hand painted everything (besides the rubber chickens of corpse), added a metallic finish for each section of individual color and then gave it a lacquer finish. When it was dry I was so happy with how it all turned out. Then when I put the original art piece in the frame my creepy little soul felt its artistic mission was complete. Another piece of art framed in art completed and to be honest I can’t stop smiling at it every time I look it and how my whole vision all came together. I hope it gives Sven the same sense of joy and nostalgia and it reminds him of how much us horror geeks love what he does and are so happy he kept Bishop’s vision alive for us boils and ghouls all these years.

Maybe, just maybe one day I will be tuned into the show and be lucky enough to see this special piece of hand drawn and hand made art on the show’s set. A living dead girl can nightmare can’t she? Never say never! 📺💀⚰️🐔✨
