Orion Mini Monsterpiece Officially Envisioned! πŸŒŠπŸ‘οΈπŸ‘Ή

What started off as me creating Solaris for the Nevada Fine Arts 4×4″ gallery show, inspired me to then unearth Gaia. Mixing my love for both monsters and cosmic mythological vibes I felt the universe was telling me “why stop there?” So I decided to dive deep into the depths to conjure up another one of my Monstrosities for the Unruly Art Market.

No pun intended, but the entire vision for this 4×4″ Mini Monsterpiece started with a single physical element.. the eye. I was drawn into the slightly tealish aqua blues mixed with intense red and bloodshot accents and knew right away that Orion was my inspiration. Born from the teal waters of his father Poseidon with the ability to walk across the ocean, and pulled from the shadows of legendary blindness by the fiery light of the sun, the aquatic demigod naturally began taking monster form amidst the fleshy waves of my canvas.

For those not familiar with my Monsterpieces, this particular piece was created on a 4×4″ pre-wrapped (on wood) canvas.Β I transformed it, by hand sculpting it into a cycloptic creature with wild faux hair, glittery horns, drool covered shell fangs, and rubbery flesh. They are my way of giving unique three dimensionalΒ flare to a traditional flat canvas. Since they are hand made and not mass produced* no two will ever be recreated exactly the same, allowing my art collectors something one-of-a-kind and out of the ordinary for their collections.

You can see Orion and my other Monstrosities showcased on my portfolio website.

Anyone attending the Unruly Art Market on Sunday, May 31st will get first dibs on adopting Orion. If he is still hunting for his chosen mortal after the event, he will be added to my Etsy shop for online shoppers and placed inside my Cabinets of Curiosities at Closet Collectibles for those who wish to see and adopt him in person.*

Don’t miss your chance to own this unique piece of beastly art that stretches from the depths of the sea, all the way to the stars in the cosmos. πŸŒŠπŸ’«

Just a friendly reminder that National Handmade Day is April 5th! While it’s always encouraged to support handmade small businesses all year long, this Saturday is a great time to celebrate and show local artisans that you believe in them! βœοΈπŸ”«πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŽ¨βœ¨οΈ

*Price is discounted from online store prices. Etsy listings reflect the unfortunate amount of shop and transaction fees they charge us artists to sell online. If you are local or traveling to Illinois, I encourage my clients to save money and see my work on full display by shopping my artwork in person with my consignment partner, Closet Collectibles where they truly support my creative endeavors to the fullest as their resident local artist.

The Pick Of Destiny For My Destiny

0

I hand sculpted and hand painted the “Pick of Destiny” from Tenacious D for my husband Frank as a little surprise for Valentine’s Day this year.

To make it more custom I sculpted it so when you flip it over it looks as though it formed and took over one of the Axe Man’s Bridge picks we had made when his band was still together. I put a small necklace ring on the top incase he wants to hang or display it.

Needless to say he was very happy when I gifted to him and I was super excited to be able to try my hands at more sculpting.

See this creation and more of my rocking creations on the Remains page of my portfolio website!
