“I’m Am The Magics” a Tribute to Willow Rosenberg by Artist Living Dead Girl Nicole

0

Earlier this year, I decided to rewatch the entire series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I hadn’t seen it since high school, back when I was a real-life graduate of the class of ’99, just like the β€œScooby Gang.” It was fun revisiting the show for nostalgic reasons, but my main focus was to be engulfed in the “Buffyverse” once again so I could finally check Alyson Hannigan as Willow Rosenberg off my art bucket list.

Willow was always my favorite character on the show. Despite being framed as the sidekick or best friend, I was always drawn to her more than Buffy. Maybe it was our shared 90’s fashion sense, her ability to research every monster-fighting scenario Buffy was faced with, or watching her grow into her powers, but I always saw her as the true emotional core of the series and the character I related to most. She always felt less like a fictional character and more like someone I would want to genuinely hang out with.

I really wanted to encapsulate Willow’s character growth from the beginning to the end of the series. An artistic reminder that we all have the battle of good and evil inside of us and that it is ultimately up to us to choose which path we take. With that in mind, I knew this had to be one of my signature split face portraits. One half representing the sweet, quirky and shy Willow, with the other side reflecting cold, broken hearted, β€œI’m the Slayer now” lethal Dark Willow. A part in the series that even though she becomes consumed by her overuse of power, she finally finds the courage to express so much of what Willow fans had always wanted her to say out loud, unfortunately pushing her toward nearly destroying the world with dark forces.

In the end, however, she recognizes the darkness she is heading toward and learns to control her powers. By doing so, she evolves into her true strength as a white witch, bringing light back into the world by activating all potential Slayers and saving humanity. The underdog ultimately becoming the true hero of the series in the show’s finale.

A storyline worth picking up the drawing pencils for, I completed the piece last week and am excited to share it with my art collectors. Done in pencil and chalk pastels, I call it “I Am The Magics”….

Ashley Has The Eye of The Tiger

6

I am loving these photos that my Etsy customer Ashley sent to me! She received my Tiger’s Eye Spiritual Skullerfly Crystal Ornamental Wreath and wanted to share how she’s displaying it in her home. Can we talk about how perfect it looks next to her fun leopard print lamp?!

With her photos Ashley sent me a message saying..

“I got this today! I really love it! I love the glitter painted skull, the colors, the beads, everything!”

Thank you again Ashley for sharing. I hope it invokes lots of courage, confidence, light, and positivity into your life. So mote it be.

For those that are new here, I make these pieces of art inspired by a specific crystal or gemstone. They are made with loving intentions and before I put them up for sale I always bless them with incense and charge them by the full moon. Once the piece is sold it is forever with the one it is meant to be with and I never make one inspired by that specific crystal or gemstone again. This makes them one-of-a-kind and truly special to the person who owns them. A little bit of handmade magic!

Interested in a Spiritual Skullerfly Crystal Ornamental Wreath that is available to ship now? I have 2 pre-made ones left in my Etsy Shop (also available at a “support a small business” discounted price if purchased in person at Closet Collectibles in Crete Illinois).

If you don’t already subscribe to my updates be sure that you do (in the right side column of this page). I make all of my new creations announcements here on my blog before anywhere else. Subscribers get updates directly emailed to them (via WordPress) to keep them in the know so they can be ready to make a purchase as soon as they are announced.

Is there a specific crystal your hoping to see me make next? Drop me a comment on this post with your requests and inspire me. You might just manifest it!

As always, don’t forget to check out Ashley alongside my other happy customer photo submissions in my Freaky Fanatic slideshow! Have a photo of yourself with one of my creations? Contact me and let me know about it and you could be featured here as well!

New Spiritual Skullerfly Crystal Wreaths!

2

So I know I mentioned in a past post that I was currently working on some creations that I started before everyone was forced to stay home due to the COVID pandemic. I completed them during quarantine and have been going crazy not being able to share them with my art collectors but it was very important to me to get photos of these metaphysical pieces out in nature.

Ironically with the world in chaos I feel like everyone could use some extra healing right now so being able to get out to photograph them came at perfect timing. My husband and I took a trip to a secluded forest area and he helped me get some good shots of them for all of you. When they were hanging in the trees they looked so magical as though they were left their by fairies which is exactly what I had hoped for.

Handcrafted, blessed with incense and charged by the Strawberry Full Moon, here they are.. my new Limited Edition Spiritual Skullerfly Crystal Wreaths!

These pre-made pieces of hanging art were handcrafted with a miniature wreath as a base with a ornament hook for hanging. They each feature a glittery Skullerfly coordinated with a matching rosary chain of crystal beads, a clear point natural crystal gemstone to draw in positive energy and adorned with matching feathers, faux flower petals and twigs from nature dipped in glitter.

Carnelian (Orange) to invoke creativity and balance the sacral chakra

Rose Quartz (Pink) to invoke love and balance the heart charka

Aventurine (Green) to invoke prosperity and balance the heart chakra

Lapis Lazuli (Blue) to invoke confidence and balance the throat chakra

I currently have pre-made only 1 of each of these. Buy the one that speaks to you the most and let it invoke and inspire you where ever you may display and hang it. Each one measuring approximately 5″ x 4″ and currently available while supplies last in my Etsy Shop!

To see more of my magical creations be sure to check out the Spellbinding section of my Portfolio website! Happy Healing everyone!

“Maybe Today Satan” a Tribute to Sabrina Spellman by Artist Living Dead Girl Nicole

0

I will start off by saying (once again) that I have never really been a fan of re-makes and re-boots. However, I will allow you to quote me as saying that the “re-boot” of Sabrina The Teenage Witch is quite the exception. Those of us who grew up on the Archie comics, the cartoon and even embraced the 90s TV sitcom got to enjoy the cutesy version of Sabrina Spellman.

Now as adults we get to bask in the sinful glory of a MUCH darker side of what it could have been like to be in Sabrina’s half-witch half-mortal shoes. So in other words, The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina on Netflix is the version I had always hoped for but never got (sorry Melissa Joan Hart but I did love you in Clarissa Explains It All!). The first time I laid eyes on The Academy of Unseen Arts I was like “Screw Hogwarts! Sign me up here!” (I even have an alumni sweatshirt cause I am a dork like that). So I guess what I am trying to say is that I really dig this show. I think a lot of it has to do with all the incredible Biblical, Pagen, Horror Movie, Archie and Riverdale references that they incorporate and cross reference on top of the story line. Some being super obvious and others as hidden Easter Eggs for fans who really “get it”.

That leads me to my latest art piece inspired by the beautifully talented Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina. I didn’t want to just draw her in her everyday look. If you know a thing or two about the show you will definitely get the play on words that I am using for the title as you take in what I have drawn. I call it “Maybe Today Satan”…

For those who have not started watching this show yet, I will not give away too much. What I will say is that this split face portrait is inspired by Sabrina’s two royalty looks as the Queen of Hell aka Sabrina Spellman – Morningstar! This piece was done in pencils and chalk pastels.

Are you a good witch or a bad witch? Either way prints and shirts of this art piece are now available in my Amazon shop for you to rock proudly as either! You can also see more of my portrait work in the Spitting Image section of my portfolio website!
