Weird Professional Magazine Features Artist Living Dead Girl Nicole In First Issue

0

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have been connecting with some really amazing folks on Linkedin as a result of being laid off last year and going full force on both my job hunt and artwork marketing endeavors. So much so that I am actually a part of many “hashtag” founded groups filled with people who understand that you can be your offbeat self and still be a professional. Breaking the stereotype that business means boring.

One of these amazing hashtags that have helped me find my fellow like minded “weirdlings” is “WeirdLinkedIn” by Orana Velarde, which then transformed into the Fellowship Of The Weird LinkedIn Group, described as “the ultimate hangout for those of us who embrace the quirky, the offbeat, and the marvelously strange. To give you a judgment-free zone where you can let your weird flag fly and to build a warm, welcoming community where anyone identifying as weird (and proud of it) feels right at home.”

And like most of us that feel right at home amongst the strange and unusual, we are also a pool filled with many talents. So Ambra Hubert wanted to find a creative way to showcase that to the world. Especially during this terrible tsunami of unemployment a majority of us are trying to survive through right now. The end result was her creating the very first issue of the Weird Professional Community Zine.

Here is a screenshot of the beautiful page layout she created that features some of the wording from my LinkedIn profile along with my Alter Ego Monsterpieces!

Be sure to give the online version a look through and discover all the weird and wonderful things everyone compiled to launch this great endeavor! It will be available on Flipbook (for 1 year) and you can also purchase a print copy of it as well.

You can also find this magazine and more examples of where my art has been featured on the Creature Features page of my portfolio website. And if you are interested in showcasing my work in your next publication, exhibition, or creative venture let’s connect and make some magic together!

Artflow Alliance Spotlights Artist Living Dead Girl Nicole with Exclusive Interview for January Issue

0

I’ve been grateful to have my work featured in artist updates over the past few months in the Artflow Alliance Insider e-newsletter, but this latest issue is extra special and I think my art collectors will agree.

Dominique Sahms reached out to me saying that she wanted to kick off 2026 in a unique way. Focusing the first issue of the year embracing and acknowledging the importance of how the light and our own shadows are both essential for personal growth and creative expression. Therefore she felt my wide range of “whimsical meets macabre” style creations aligned perfectly with her vision and wanted me to be the Artist Spotlight for the January issue. I was honored to be asked and really enjoyed answering the questions that Dominique used for picking my brain so she could learn more about the visions that paint the walls inside.

The end result was her doing an incredible write up about me and my work which you can now read on Medium or via the LinkedIn article she published.

You can also find this artist spotlight interview and more examples of where my art has been featured on the Creature Features page of my portfolio website. And if you are interested in showcasing my work in your next publication, exhibition, or creative venture let’s connect and make some magic together!

Turning My Art Upside Down With a Hand Sculpted Stranger Things Upgrade

1

With all of us highly anticipating the next chapter of Stranger Things hitting our screens this week, I have been deep in inspiration mode, anxious in all the good ways to create something special for my art collectors as we wait to see what happens next to what remains of our beloved Hellfire Club.

So I started off with a freshly printed 8×10″ giclee print of my “Pretty Bitchin'” split face portrait of Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven (in Seasons 1 and 2) and got a nice new frame for it. But let’s be real, my plan was never to just put it in a nice frame. Like so many characters in the show, I had a vision. And that vision was to turn this frame Upside Down, literally. What followed was a full Vecna-infested transformation. πŸ™ƒ

I hand sculpted, painted, and lacquered the frame to bring my idea to life, and I could not be happier with how it turned out. Much like the visual effects and branding of the show, color played a huge role in the process. Blue representing the everyday human world, with red symbolizing the dark reflection of the Upside Down realm. I wanted both energies present, with the Upside Down slowly taking over and warping everything into one twisted reality surrounding Eleven.

And since I know we are all counting down the minutes until the next chapter airs, I made a special art drop visit to Closet Collectibles yesterday to add this special piece to my Cabinets of Curiosities. It is also now available to purchase online in my Etsy shop for those who are not local and need to shop from their own dimension.

As always, my art collectors who choose to shop my work in-person at Closet Collectibles vs online in my Etsy shop do benefit from discounted in-store pricing** so if you are local or in the area be sure to stop by, check out my work, and get your hands on this one-of-a-kind piece of art framed in art before a Demogorgon decides to snatch it up and drag it off to his dark corner in the Vale of Shadows.
