Gallerium’s Girlish Art Exhibition features ‘I Am The Somebody. Iโ€™m The Fire’ Daisy Jones Piece by Living Dead Girl Nicole ๐ŸŽ€๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ๐ŸŒผ

I am excited to share that I have more art exhibition news! Not only is my “Invite Me In” piece being featured in the Bloodsuckers: Art Of The Undead’ exhibition that opened at Evolved Art Gallery in Ventura, California this past weekend, but now another piece of my work is being featured in a virtual exhibition curated by Gallerium on the Biafarin platform.

The theme of the exhibition is Girlish ๐ŸŽ€: Stories of Femininity, Strength, and Becoming: A chance to express the essence, struggles, and triumphs of girls and women by celebrating their diverse stories through art. Exploring the depths of femininity, conveying self-discovery, empowerment, societal expectations, cultural influences, and personal narratives revealing the strength, beauty, challenges, and resilience of women.

I submitted a few of my portrait pieces on a whim to see if the curators may want to feature one or all of them and was thrilled that they accepted my ‘I Am The Somebody. I’m The Fire’ piece that I hand drew in pencil and chalk pastels in tribute to Riley Keough as Daisy Jones. ๐ŸŒผ Not just because I love the piece, but because the character of Daisy and her journey truly fits the theme so perfectly.

When submitting the work they asked for description of what inspired the piece in which I wrote:

I Am The Somebody. I’m The Fire.โ€ is a traditional pencil and soft chalk pastel portrait paying tribute to the feisty, determined character of Daisy Jones, played by Riley Keough, in the musical drama series Daisy Jones & The Six. Inspired by the 1970s rock scene and heavily rooted in Fleetwood Mac lore, the piece channels a nostalgic seventies aesthetic to capture Daisy’s turbulent journey toward self-belief and artistic independence. The title and composition pull references from various defining moments in Daisy’s journey, focusing closely on the iconic aesthetics of the fictional Aurora album photo shoot. Ultimately, this portrait honors a fiercely resilient woman overcoming an unsupportive past to follow her dreams, find her fire, choose happiness, and become her own “somebody,” a creative force who refused to be anyone’s muse but her own.

The exhibition is already being featured in Art Week and includes this really cool collage of all the incredible work that was accepted by the 86 artists for the show:

So be sure to check out this virtual exhibition taking place September 12th – November 12th, 2026 via the online gallery platform and be sure to give my piece some love (via the โค๏ธ icon next to the listing) while you are there.

Please note that my piece shows up in this exhibition as Not For Sale because the original 8×10″ version is in my personal collection in hopes that maybe one day I cross paths with Riley and can gift it to her. After all, Daisy did teach us ladies to believe in ourselves and to follow our dreams.

And just because I am dreaming does not mean my art collectors can’t enjoy this piece for their very own collection. Made-to order giclee, metallic, canvas prints and t-shirts of the piece are available to order in my Etsy shop, and if you are a local to Illinois there is currently still an 8×10″ and 4×6″ canvas print of this piece on display and available to purchase from my Artist Of The Month Display at Soundgrowler! If you love rock music you will definitely love the atmosphere there!

Last but not least, if you are new here, and just happened upon this post, be sure to check out the Creature Features page of my portfolio website. There, you can find this exhibition listed alongside some of the other unique places my art has been featured over the years. And if you’re a gallery, curator, publication, or other outlet that is interested in showcasing my work, let’s connect, chat and make some magic together!

Favorite Childhood Book

Daily writing prompt
Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?

I thought it might be fun to take advantage of some of these WordPress writing prompts so my Freaky Fanatics can get to know me a little better. So here we go….

I actually do remember my favorite book from childhood all too well. It was King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub by Audrey and Don Wood.

I always grabbed this beautiful, hardcover book from my elementary school library whenever our class had library day. I bet if it still exists at my old school the library check out card would be filled with my name over and over again. I also remember my friends and classmates never understanding why I loved it so much, which was fine by me because then I knew it would be available to check out. Maybe it was my love of whimsical things, the Renaissance Faire, fantasy films, and fairy tales. Maybe it was because it was like no other book I had ever picked up before. Maybe it was because I have always been drawn to the strange and unusual things most people don’t usually appreciate. All I know is that I could not get enough of this humorous tale no matter how many times I read it and I was absolutely captivated by the illustrations. So much so I would look at the pages over and over again incase I missed something the artist had hidden somewhere. I will forever be grateful for this book as it was a great escape for me as a little girl when life was cruel. I guess that is another reason why I remember how mesmerized I was by it.

What was your favorite childhood book? Feel free to leave a comment if you feel like sharing and be sure to read my artist bio to learn more about what makes my brain tick on my portfolio website.

Spitting Image: Penny Furter

Pretty excited to share my latest portrait with my followers. This one is in tribute to the very talented, Tim Curry. A mastermind actor who could bring creepiness, fun and just about any character to life on the big screen.

This one is anotherย split face portrait (my specialty) that my fellow freaks will appreciate. It’s half Timย as Pennywise in Stephen King’s IT and the other half as him as Franken Furter in Rocky Horror picture show.

Now available as giclee prints and on t-shirts in my Etsy shop! See more of my portrait work on the Spitting Image page of my site!
