Evolved Art Gallery Bloodsuckers Exhibition will Feature ‘Invite Me In’ Jessica Hamby Piece by Living Dead Girl Nicole ๐Ÿซฆ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ๐Ÿง›๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Following a highly successful run at the ‘I Know You Are But What Am I?’ Pee-wee Herman exhibition, where all of my prints sold out and I had the lovely experience of working with Christina (the gallery owner) who is a absolute gem, I decided to submit to Evolved Art Gallery‘s next showcase: Bloodsuckers: Art Of The Undead’ ๐Ÿง›๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ

With that being said, I am thrilled to announce that my work was accepted, and this time it won’t be in the limited edition print rack. Instead for this show, my ‘Invite Me In’ pencil, colored pencil and charcoal portrait piece inspired by Deborah Ann Woll’s portrayal of Jessica Hamby in True Blood ๐Ÿซฆ will creep up the walls with all the other incredible vampy art that has been accepted into the show.

Now, if you are one of my art collectors who has been following my artventure journeys, you are already fully aware that the original 8×10″ version of this piece was gifted directly to Deborah Ann Woll, and therefore its not available for sale.

Since baby vamp Jessica herself has the piece in her collection, I am contributing a rare, first-of-its-kind 16×20″ canvas print specifically for this show! It will come with a certificate of authenticity that states the following:

“This certificate confirms that the artwork identified in this document is a limited edition professionally printed canvas print made specifically for the Evolved Art Gallery Bloodsuckers Exhibition. It is the first canvas print of this specific art piece to ever be printed in a 16″x20″ size.ย The original artwork that this canvas print was created from was hand drawn in pencil, charcoal & colored pencil on 8″x10″ paper & is owned by actress Deborah Ann Woll,ย whose portrayal of Jessica Hamby in True Blood inspired the artist to create it.”

So, wither you are a fangbanger or creature of the night who happens to be near Ventura, California be ready to rise September 12th – October 31st, 2026 and come thirsty for some killer art made by over 70 artists at Evolved Art Gallery! The opening takes place on the 12th with free viewings every weekend through Halloween. While you are there, be sure to tell Christina that Living Dead Girl Nicole sent ya! She works incredibly hard to put these shows on, and I am truly honored to have my work be selected once again by “a fine art gallery for creative misfits!“๐Ÿฆ‡

And if you are stuck in the Midwest like me, or anywhere else that is far away from the “Golden State” of Cali, you will be happy to know that all the pieces in this show will be available to sink your teeth into online as well. Thatโ€™s right…you donโ€™t have to miss out supporting us artists involved in this show cause your crypt is too far away. You can go take a bite of the action via the galleryโ€™s Shop page once the show opens and get your claws on these one-of-a-kind vampiric pieces from the shadows of your very own tomb sweet tomb. โšฐ๏ธ

Every piece in the gallery is strictly human-made, celebrating gothic lore, cinematic immortality, and creatures of the night. So spend your money wisely this spooky season and choose one-of-a-kind human made art instead of mass produced garbage. I promise, you most definitely won’t find anything featured in this line up at a Spirit Halloween.

Last but not least, if you are new here, and just happened upon this post, be sure to check out the Creature Features page of my portfolio website. There, you can find this exhibition listed alongside some of the other unique places my art has been featured over the years. And if you’re a gallery, curator, publication, or other outlet that is interested in showcasing my work, let’s connect, chat and make some magic together!

Gwengoolie Glamour Ghoul Decay Barrette Handcrafted By Living Dead Girl Nicole ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ–ค

2

To say this ghoul has been deeply inspired by the Svengoolieverse would be quite the understatement. Not only did I finish my split face portrait, “You’re All Grown Up Now” as a tribute to Jerry G. Bishop and Rich Koz, but I also conjured up a one-of-a-kind campy but spooky fun frame for it! While working on the frame it hit me that I wasn’t quite done being inspired by these local legends just yet!

I got to thinking about how its been a little while since I have been commissioned to make one of my Dead Girl Decay barrettes. At times I miss making them for my art collectors and even more so when they give me a theme to go off of. Then it hit me.. I must make one for Gwengoolie!

I just adore Sarah “Pin-Up Palmer” and her transformation into the undead glamour ghoul on House of Svengoolie. She’s GOREgeous, sassy and her psychobilly vibes are such a fun edition to the Sven Squad. She often adds floral hair pieces to her look both on and off screen and it got me thinking of how killer it would be for her to have one of my Dead Girl Decay barrettes in her collection. So I started researching and digging into my crypt of supplies and once I conjured up everything I needed it all came together spooktacularly!

Elsa helped me by doing a little photo shoot today so I could take some pictures showing how it looks in her hair. She sits next to me in my Morticia Addams wicker chair in the corner of my home art studio, so she also got to watch the entire creative process. I think she was bit bummed when she realized she doesn’t get to keep it. Can’t say that I blame her. It looks so ghoul on her!

Now my goal is to get this special handmade hair piece to Sarah before Elsa tries to claim it for herself. And maybe, just maybe one day we may see Gwengoolie rocking it on tv. Am I nightmaring again? Of corpse! But I like to keep the mindset of “never say never” because over the years my art has opened up doors and been featured in ways I never thought imaginable and all because I enjoy using my talents to gift back to those who spark my creativity. โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ–คโœจ

Svengoolie Portrait Gets Resurrected Art Frame by Living Dead Girl Nicole ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ–ผ๐Ÿ”

2

A couple of weeks ago I shared my latest split face portrait “You’re All Grown Up Now”, a tribute to Jerry G. Bishop and Rich Koz and the history of our Chicagoland local legend Svengoolie. Well with Flashback Weekend on the horizon and me anticipating gifting the piece to Sven, I needed to get a frame for it. However, I knew not any frame would do for the essence of Svengoolie. It needed to have a bit of unique, campy yet spooky razzle dazzle.

So I found a frame to resurrect and went to work. I chose this specific frame for a few reasons. For one, the beaded look reminded me of Svengoolie’s red beaded rubber chicken necklace. I also liked how there were layers to the frame and immediately envisioned various ways I could incorporate the colors of the show’s set. I also loved that it was made from natural wood which would give me a nice base.

This was the end result after I conjured my creative magic…

I purchased the little rubber chickens and hand sculpted larger “beads” to attach them to the frame securely. I wanted them to dangle because if you give them a squeeze they actually make a fun little squeaky sound!

I wanted there to be a center piece to the frame between Bishop and Koz, so I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to pay homage to Zallman T. Tombstone. So I hand sculpted a little skull and used some wig hair to make him his iconic mustache. Not getting the hair in the clay while it was drying was “fun times” but I succeeded.

I then hand painted everything (besides the rubber chickens of corpse), added a metallic finish for each section of individual color and then gave it a lacquer finish. When it was dry I was so happy with how it all turned out. Then when I put the original art piece in the frame my creepy little soul felt its artistic mission was complete. Another piece of art framed in art completed and to be honest I can’t stop smiling at it every time I look it and how my whole vision all came together. I hope it gives Sven the same sense of joy and nostalgia and it reminds him of how much us horror geeks love what he does and are so happy he kept Bishop’s vision alive for us boils and ghouls all these years.

Maybe, just maybe one day I will be tuned into the show and be lucky enough to see this special piece of hand drawn and hand made art on the show’s set. A living dead girl can nightmare can’t she? Never say never! ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ’€โšฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ”โœจ

“You’re All Grown Up Now” a Tribute to Svengoolie by Artist Living Dead Girl Nicole

7

As a Chicagoland horror geek, I will be the first to say that checking this portrait piece off my art bucket list was well over due. I have had the honor of being on a stage with Svengoolie (it was a costume contest at Flashback Weekend but still.. legendary) and been in his presence at countless conventions and hearse club shows over the years but I have always wanted to express the impact he has had on our local horror community through my art.

I really wanted the piece to be a reflection of the history of the legendary tv horror host over the years. Similar to the way I paid tribute to Jim Henson with my “The Lovers. The Dreamers. And Me.” piece. With half reflecting the earlier years so the piece actual tells a story.

So for this split face portrait I decided to go back to the 70s by drawing the left side as a tribute to Jerry G. Bishop who was the mastermind behind Svengoolie. The original on air host from radio and television that brought the character to life on Screaming Yellow Theatre. Complete with his long green hair, aviator glasses, hippie attire and sidekick puppet Durwood.

The right side represents Rich Koz joined by his puppet pal, Kerwyn. Koz not only wrote jokes for Jerry, but he also resurrected the role as the Son of Svengoolie on WFLD (Fox) 32 in the 80s. He later received Jerryโ€™s blessing to make the character his own in the 90s, when Jerry told him, โ€œYouโ€™re all grown up nowโ€ฆ be Svengoolie.โ€ At that point, he dropped the โ€œSon ofโ€ from his name and became the face of Svengoolie that we all know and love on MeTV today.

So in my best “Yiddish/Transylvanian” impression (as Jerry described it), I type and recite his words “The time has come for scary things“. So hold on to your rubber chickens as I emerge from my coffin to present to you my latest piece I call “You’re All Grown Up Now” hand drawn in pencil, colored pencil and chalk pastels.

For my art collectors who can’t get enough of hearing “Calling all stations. Clear the air lanes, clear all air lanes for the big broadcast!”, “I have made-to-order* prints and wearable art t-shirts of this special tribute piece listed in myย Etsyย shop.
