Be sure to check out this very special issue to discover some great artists and handmade gift ideas as well as the Creature Features page of my portfolio website. There you can find this spotlight as well as some of the other fun and unique places my art has been featured over the years.
In a world where artificial intelligence is making waves in every corner of our lives, there’s one thing I believe we can’t replace and that is the human touch. That’s why I’ve designed my latest T-shirt collection to show support for what truly makes my art special, its handmade, human origins.
Long before AI, I have always prided myself in the fact that I only use design software when it comes to creating graphics for marketing and mockups (even these shirts were designed this way). My portraits are hand drawn on paper using pencils, charcoal and pastels. My paintings made with canvas, paintbrushes, and paint. My creations sculpted and glued with my very own two hands (with the hot glue gun burns to prove it). My work literally carries my fingerprints and that is something no computer or algorithm can ever capture.
And don’t get me wrong, AI can do a lot of things. It can generate and mimic shocking realistic visuals, craft music, write poetry and even create an actor for your next feature film. So much so that it’s now become harder and harder for us creatives to find employment (I should know as I am still looking for my next opportunity), but it can’t replicate the soul, emotion, or the way us human express our true selves in our work. That is why it has to steal from us in order to “create”.
These “I Support Human Handmade Art” shirts are more than just clothing, they are a statement to champion for us creatives who pour our heart and souls into our work and carve out new ways of thinking and seeing the world. They’re a representation of the spirit of individuality and rebellion that has always fueled creative work. So whether you’re an artist, an art lover, or just someone who values what makes human creativity so special, these shirts are your chance to wear your heart on your sleeve for us.. literally.
In a world where technology is rapidly evolving, it’s more important than ever to remind ourselves of what makes us human. So if you support the idea that creativity should come from human hands, lets start a revolution! Support me as an artist, share this post, and order one of these statement shirts in my Etsy shop today!
While I was there I also restocked my sold-out 80s Sticker Pack sets. Thank you to everyone who has grabbed one! I also noticed that the remaining stock of my print puzzles is nearly gone, and my iron-on print patches are not far behind. It makes me so happy to see how much everyone has enjoyed these fun ways to experience and collect my work. This also means it’s time to conjure up some new limited edition items Iโve had simmering on the back burner. So stay tuned! ๐ฎโจ๏ธ
As always, my art collectors who choose to shop my work at Closet Collectibles vs online receive discounted in-store pricing** so be sure to go check everything out, stock up, share this post, and don’t forget to tell Chris and the gang that “Living Dead Girl Nicole sent ya!”
On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was. In which I replied.. “Time to burn some prices for my art collectors, because Iโm not a regular artist, Iโm a cool artist.”
That’s right plastics, in celebration of Mean Girls Day, I am running a sale that is totally grool!
๐ From October 3rdโ5th, head over to Closet Collectibles and show them the above flyer (printed or on your phone screen) to receive $5 off your purchase of $40 or more on my artwork!*
So go score from this sale like Shane Oman in the projection room above an auditorium, and donโt forget to share this post like a Toaster Strudel heiress spilling secrets from her big hair. ๐ฃ๐
Stay Strange & Magical โจ LDG Nicole
*The limit does not exist when it comes to how much art and other collectibles you can buytogether at the shop, but please remember that the $40 minimum cannot be met by buying my creations in combination with other store items. The only way to receive the $5 discount is by purchasing $40 worth of my art in your one store transaction.
