A Very Righteous Halloween 2025

0

It’s never easy to say goodbye to the greatest holiday of the year, but I always find that sharing my annual costume and memorable moments with my followers always seems to help me get through the post holiday blues. And speaking of holiday blues I had quite the “Gemstones” on mine this year.

That’s right, not only did I finish my “Voila! No More COVID!” portrait of Walton Goggins and Uncle Baby Billy Freeman, but little did anyone know that while working on it I was also simultaneously working on my Halloween costume to transform into him as well. Needless to say it was a very “Righteous” Halloween this year.

Ta-dah! Look who it is! Y’all can’t start Halloween without no star now.

To top it off my husband Frank joined in on the fun as Teenjus and one of the trick or treaters even told him “I need to read your book more” 😆

As most of you know we got married on Halloween in 2009 and donated the base of our wedding arch to my brother’s Halloween yard display. Each year we try to remember to take a photo under it and it amazes me how my brother has kept it going strong (like us) after 16 years.

We got your miracle right here nerds!

We got blessed with a perfect sunny and crisp Samhain here in the Chicagoland area. My nephew Michael who has pretty much taken over the duties of passing out candy over the years decided to use his role to inspire his sweet costume as Willy Wonka. My great niece Violet chose to be a plague doctor this year because well she’s the ghoulist kid I know and I wouldn’t expect anything less from her. Having my Baby Billy virus elixir prop for my costume could not have been more perfect for taking a photo with her.

And the festivities did not stop there. I was also informed that like my Dr. Teeth costume that was featured in 2022, my Mokey Fraggle costume from last year made it into the Tough Pigs Muppet Halloween Parade for 2025! There are always a ton of great costumes that get submitted for this, so it is always an honor to be chosen by hardcore fans who for many moons have been doing such an amazing job to help keep Jim Henson’s legacy alive for all of us. 🌈✨️

Hmm now what to be next year?! 🤔

Halloween 2020 Was a Scream!

0

What a great Halloween and Wedding Anniversary weekend for us. Despite everything going on in the world it was so nice to see the sun shining, feel the autumn breeze and take in all the fall colors surrounding us this Halloween.

I was also happy to be able to cross another character off my Costume Bucket List! The one and only Casey Becker aka Drew Barrymore in Scream. I know, I know.. I love the 90s what can I say ha ha.

The best part was I was able to talk my husband Frank into being my Ghostface……

See more of my makeup and costume art on the Skinned page of my portfolio website.

I also did an art drop over the weekend at Closet Collectibles! I restocked prints and also brought in some new items. This includes 2 new upcycled customized framed prints and art print PUZZLES! That’s right 80 piece puzzles are now available exclusively for Closet Collectibles shoppers! I even sold one while I was there so make sure you get one while they last!

Skinned: Halloween 2019 as Mavey Wavey

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Halloween! Despite the snow we got here in Illinois we still made the most of it and I of corpse still dressed up! This year I pulled my inspiration from my love of Hotel Transylvania and went as Mavis!

I used my makeup skills to transform my face to look more like her by making sure to contour my nose and cheeks. And because I am committed to Halloween I even made my zing (aka my husband Frank) stop at 711 to get me a Slurpee so I could drink out of it all night and really be in character. I really had a blast with this costume. Here is how it turned out…

I found an ancestor!
With my zing!
Toy Story meets Hotel Transylvania! Bo Peep Violet and Aunt Mavis!

What did you dress up as? If you enjoyed this post you may want to check out some of my other makeup transformations on the Skinned page of my portfolio website!

So this is my last post of the night. I told you the weekend was eventful ha ha. The best for last of course is Halloween day! Not only our favorite holiday but also our wedding anniversary. So of course we took the day off of work to celebrate.

Started off the day by heading over to my brother’s house and adding our decorations to his already awesome yard. This of course included Frankenhearse 🙂 which he wanted to be parked right in the middle of all the action.

You can kindof see Elsa there in the driver seat of Frankenhearse. She made her debut yesterday and was a big hit. Her main man Frankenstein was chillin in the back like he usually does. This time complete with strobe lights and smoke machines.

After getting the yard ready we headed back home so I could get myself ready. I had a wig to style and a whole face of makeup to do on myself. Goal = Lady Captain Spaulding! I had planned out this costume before all the stupid fear of clown crap started this year and I was not about to back out because people are idiots . Not only cause when I want to do something I do it, but because I love Sid and have always wanted to do this costume as a fun tribute to him. This was the year ….and I was not backing out.

I have to admit (pats self on back) that it came out exactly how I wanted it to. I also had a blast taking selfies in my best Sid expression to show people how the makeup came out…….

I had some added special items in my costume which included my Top Secret Clown Business button and Hot Dog Asshole shirt from Sid. It really made the costume complete as if Spaulding himself helped put it together and was with me rockin’ it!

As soon as we got back to my brother’s house I had to take a photo with Frankenhearse while showing off my entire costume. Frank came up with a great idea to take the photo next to my website decal that is on the back window. Genius!

After our Halloween wedding in 2009, we donated our gothic wedding arch to my brother’s Halloween stash. He always does a cool cemetery scene and I knew it would make for an awesome gate. With living in a town home we don’t have much for a yard to decorate or a lot of storage space and I wanted it to go somewhere special. Since giving it to my brother we started a tradition. Every year Frank and I stand under or in front of it and my brother snaps a photo of us. This is our 7 year wedding arch photo…………

As you can see Frank dressed up as well and his goal was to find a bizarre scary mask and bust out the chainsaw to scare everyone. He got one for my brother too. A lot of people made reference to the pig faces reminding them of the new season of American Horror Story. Frank wasn’t even going for that when he bought them but loved the added fact that it made people freak out even more ha ha.

As it got darker out the yard looked even more amazing. Between the lights in the yard, the smoke machines, the lights in and out of Frankenhearse etc. cars were constantly stopping by to see everything.

Last but not least this is a photo that ended up happening because my brother had fried chicken in his fridge and we could not resist it ha ha.

We call it “EAT MORE CHICKEN!” ha ha ha ha
