John’s Rockin’ Penny Furter Display

0

I was so thrilled to see this photo in my inbox. It comes from one of my customers John and it shows how he has displayed my “Penny Furter” print in his home! 🎈

John loved the piece so much he purchased a 2nd print so his wife has something unique for Tim Curry to sign at the upcoming Monsterpalooza convention! I always love when my artwork is used for these memorable experiences and can’t wait to hear more from John after they meet the legend himself.

Have a photo of how you display my art in your home? Contact me so it can be featured with John’s photo in the Freaky Fanatic slideshow of my official portfolio website!

Are you a Tim Curry fan? Looking for something unique for the next horror con? Be sure to get your own “Penny Furter” print or t-shirt in my Etsy shop! Prints are also available to purchase in person at Closet Collectibles in Crete IL!

“The Lovers. The Dreamers. And Me.” a Tribute to Jim Henson by Artist Living Dead Girl Nicole

1

Anyone who knows me or even just follows my artistic journey knows how much Jim Henson has influenced and continues to inspire me. That is why I am very excited to finally share a new art piece that has been on my art bucket list for way too long.

I have always wanted to draw Jim Henson but was not sure how I would come up with what I considered a good enough tribute to someone that has brought so magic into my world. Then last September when his 85th Birthday was upon us, I got a vision of what I wanted to do and I started planning it out. Work, life and filling art orders got in the way but I continued to work on it slowly but surely. I am so happy I did not rush myself to complete it. I took my time because this piece is truly very special to me.

The vision I had for this piece was to pay tribute to the joy he brought into this world from the beginning of his career from the Sam and Friends days to his time on Sesame Street and the Muppet Show. And it was not just Jim’s look I wanted to show that had transitioned over the years but also wanted to incorporate the old and new looks of Kermit. From an abstract lizard made out of his Mother’s coat to the iconic frog we all love and recognize today.

I am so happy to finally be able to share this split face portrait done in pencil and chalk pastels that I call “The Lovers. The Dreamers. And Me.”

You can see this art piece and my other portrait drawings showcased on the Spitting Image page of my portfolio website.

For those who are interested in purchasing prints or wearing this art piece on a shirt, you can find them listed in my Etsy and Amazon shops. Prints will also be made available at at Closet Collectibles in Crete, IL as soon as I make my next art drop to replenish my store shelves.

Before The Voodoo!

0

So thankful to have today off from my full time job and not because of Black Friday deals, but because it allowed me to dedicate my day to creating! I decided to finish up another custom order for a client (stay tuned as it’s a Christmas gift so I can’t share it yet) and then knocked off two more of my Horror Villain Icon Dead Girl Decay barrettes.

I refer to these as my “Before The Voodoo” barrettes because both are inspired by Chucky and Tiffany prior to their killer doll transformations in the Child’s Play/Bride of Chucky movie series. Like my others they are made from resurrected action figure toys.

Chucky and Tiffany Doll Barrettes By Living Dead Girl Nicole

The “Wanna Play?” barrette is inspired by the Good Guys Chucky doll before Charles Lee Ray possesses it. The flower petals are inspired by the cheery box packaging that the Chucky dolls come in.

The “With This Ring” barrette is inspired by the Bride doll that Chucky curses Tiffany to be stuck inside of. It is inspired by the bridal attire the doll wears before she gets her Tiffany Valentine makeover.

Like my other creations these are Limited Edition so there are only one pre-made of each available in my online Etsy shop. When they are not being worn they make for great unique horror decor! Buy them both and be the only one to have the complete Before The Voodoo Set!

Never Extinguish The Flame!

0

I have had one heck of a week both emotionally and physically and needed some creative zen time. So I decided to take what energy I have right now to focus on creating another Horror Villain Icon Dead Girl Decay barrette.

This time I was inspired by the movie Trick ‘R Treat. I call it “Never Extinguish The Flame” and it’s quite fitting for the Halloween, Spooky Samhain Season…

For those not familiar with the film, the character known as Sam punishes those who do not follow the rules to keep the spirit of Halloween alive.

Always give candy to trick-or-treaters.
Always wear a costume.
Never extinguish the flame of a jack-o’-lantern before midnight.
Respect the dead.

For those of you that are fans of the film this is a Limited Edition creation so there is only one pre-made and available in my online Etsy shop. It will soon be available to purchase in person when I make my next art drop off at Closet Collectibles in Crete IL. Some ask why I limit myself when I can make more and make more money but the truth of the matter is, I value authenticity. I want the buyers of my work to get a one of kind Living Dead Girl Nicole creation that no one else has!
